TWO ART PIECES FRAMED

Some time ago I visited an online picture framing site and added a couple of pictures to my gallery there. You can upload a photo of your picture and then customise the frame and mount. In the preview window, your picture will show up with the frame of your choice, so that you can see exactly how it’s going to look in real life. They have a very good selection of frames and mounts.

My hubby’s anniversary card

This was the mixed media card I made for my hubby for our anniversary in May. It is a collage piece based on teabags with plenty of embellishments and bling.

When he opened it, he was delighted, and said, “This isn’t a card – it’s a work of art, and it should be framed!” So I took him at his word. It took me a while to get round to it for various reasons, but today the big parcel arrived and I was able to give him his “anniversary present Mk II”! He is very pleased with it. It is now hanging over the fireplace in the sitting room.

I chose a double mount for it, as the piece itself has some dimension with all the embellishments, and I didn’t want the glass to squash it. I chose a cream main mount and a dark red one for the inner mount. The frame is polished dark wood like our firepace, with a touch of gold. The whole effect is very rich, and I couldn’t be more delighted with the result.

Gold Fold in a frame

While I was at it, I also got my digital drawing “Gold Fold” framed as well. I drew this several years ago on the iPad with Procreate, and had never printed it out. The framing company also offers a service where they will print any photo you send them, and mount and frame it for you. When I uploaded the image, they stated the maximum size at which this could be printed without losing definition, and this was huge! I certainly didn’t want it that large, so opted for 12 x 12 inches.

Again, I selected the mount and frame using the digital preview. It arrived ready to hang, and I am mega-thrilled with it!

It’s so nice to see it “in the flesh” at last. I chose a gold frame with some fine detailing, and a greyish-beige mount with a white cut edge. I think this sets off the image to perfection. Again, I could not be more pleased with the result.

It is now hanging at the top of the stairs in place of a not very interesting triptych print I bought many years ago, of seaside textures.

It was impossible to photograph without getting any reflections on it, but I think you can get the idea. It’s nice to see it as you come up the stairs, and it tones well with the decor and the other pictures we have on the landing, most of which are beautiful Chinese silk paintings that I inherited from my grandmother.
