AN EXCITING GIFT - PIANOLA ROLLS Pianola roll paper has recently become quite popular in the mixed media junk journaling world, and I was keen to obtain some. My hubby has a friend who deals in old pianos and he asked him if he had any rolls to spare, and he brought them…
TYPEWRITER ALBUM PART 3 - BUTTERFLIES Today I have had a wonderful time splashing about with spray inks in the studio, and a somewhat frustrating time with die-cutting. Butterflies I am making a collection of butterflies and butterfly-themed papers for the Typewriter Album. Several weeks ago I bought Tim Holtz's "Perspective Butterfly" die…
SCRAP BUSTING - LUISE HEINZL'S MIXED MEDIA MASTERBOARDS - MY SECOND ONE Following on from my previous post where I detailed the creation of the first masterboard, I will now pick up where I left the second one, where I added inks to the wet gesso layer. White acrylic layer I painted on…
SCRAP BUSTING - LUISE HEINZL'S MIXED MEDIA MASTERBOARDS This has to be one of the most imaginative forms of scrap busting I have ever come across! Whenever we punch or die-cut any shapes, there is always that negative space paper remaining. Many people simply throw this in the bin but I usually keep…
SCRAP BUSTING - MIXED MEDIA FRAGMENTS I have made further inroads into my overflowing scraps box, grabbing a handful of white card strips which had been trimmed off larger sheets. Tea and rust I laid them out on the table close together and tea dyed them from a spray bottle, and once they…

COLLAGE PAPERS FROM OLD FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS I have a large stack of old letters from the bank, statements, council tax bills and what not. I used to shred all this stuff, but some time ago I began tea and coffee dying them with the intention of turning them into useable art papers. As…
MASTERBOARD BOOK - INKED KITCHEN PAPER Another stash-busting project! Cleaning up operations When I work with inks and paints, I don't like washing left-over media down the sink. For paints I usually wipe off the brushes onto various scratch papers which mature nicely with time and make good collage fodder or backgrounds for…
MASTERBOARD BOOK - TEXT COLLAGE PAGES Today I added five more pages to my masterboard book, which is a scrap-busting project that I started last month. It is an A4 spiral bound sketchbook which I am using to create a number of masterboard pages ready to be cut up and used in projects.…
