VISIT TO THE CAT CAFE
Yesterday we visited our local cat cafe, called “Cool for Cats.” You can find out more about it here.
We got lost on the way (it’s in the depths of the countryside) and arrived about 20 minutes after the start of our booked hour, but they allowed us to stay on as the next hour was not fully booked. In the end we spent considerably longer there, which was great. We were able to enjoy a snack and also spend lots of time with the cats, and chatting with other visitors.
Here are some general views of the cat cafe. Lots of comfy chairs and sofas, and plenty of cat-related art work, and a little shop selling cat-style gifts. In amongst the human seating were lots of places for the cats to lie and relax, as well, and toys and feeding bowls everywhere for them.
Now for some of the cats. Most of them seemed to be asleep. They were all very relaxed, in any case.
I laughed out loud when my hot chocolate arrived, complete with stencilled paw-print and a kitty spoon!
In a further room there was a large cage with two kittens in it. The little black one didn’t show up very well so I just photographed the tabby.
This is the welcome poster with pictures of the twelve permanent residents in the cafe, together with the house rules. If you visit the website (link at the beginning of this post) you can find out what goes on, how the cafe works, and what other services they provide. It’s a really lovely place with a bright, happy and peaceful atmosphere.
When I went to the loo, I found this lovely poem pasted inside the door.
Towards the end of our visit, the owner brought in a carrier containing two adorable tiny calico kittens – sisters. They were actually nine weeks old but looked considerably younger – about the same size as ours were when we first saw them at five weeks. The mother is a feral farm cat and the kittens were born at the cafe. There is also a tiny black kitten but he isn’t doing so well so they didn’t bring him in for us to see, as he’s a bit delicate.
I thought it was such a good idea to bring them into the cafe and allow lots of people to handle them. They will be well acclimatised to humans and will eventually settle well into their forever home.
We all had a chance to cuddle these adorable little babies! How easily I could have slipped them both into my bag (the owner laughed and said she checked all bags haha!) but I don’t think Lily and Ruby would have approved.
What little dinks… Just adorable.
I just had to buy one of the cat spoons! So cute.
Here it is in my favourite mug. Nobody else is allowed to use this mug. I have my breakfast coffee in it every day.
Such a lovely outing to a really magical place. I’ve heard about cat cafes before but have never visited one until now.
