DOMESTIKA COURSE – ENGLISH CALLIGRAPHY – CONSOLIDATION
Today, rather than moving on with the unit on capital letters, I decided to have a practice session and consolidte what I learned yesterday.
For the text page, I used the smaller layout grid for the first time. I didn’t notice much difference in difficulty. You can see that I made a few errors. Once or twice I started on an ascender line rather than the x line and had to start again, and I got a few words wrong. Only practice – it doesn’t matter! I chose the pangrams that I discovered on the Internet, and also a couple of lines from songs in the movie “The Sound of Music,” since we were on the theme of favourite things a couple of days ago!
On the right-hand page, I filled a few more squares with spirals and elongated infinities. Not much improvement really. I fnd it difficult working these at an angle, even turning the paper. It’s very hard getting the spacing even. The elongated infinities are easier to draw than the spirals.
I am very much enjoying the new satin-smooth paper. I blotted off the ink from the pen after each dipping, onto a piece of scrap printer paper. It bled through onto my work surface but I was able to sponge this away with no difficulty. The MDF is sealed. I shall use several thicknesses of paper another time, though.
