Two more doodle art drawings
The first is black and white with a pop of colour in the form of some orange flowers.
The second is also mostly black and white apart from the scallop shell in the centre, and this time I have coloured the background.
Both pictures were coloured using my new Derwent Coloursoft pencils. The second picture has a litle Doctor Martin’s Bleed Proof White for highlights and to correct one or two errors where I inadvertently coloured over small white features. I am annoyed with myself though – as usual, too impatient to wait for things to dry completely (overnight, ideally) – I touched up the picture with one of my fine markers before the Bleed Proof White was completely dry and clogged the pen. It now resides in the bin. Duh. Searching online, I can find no satisfactory way of unclogging these pens. One site suggested scribbling on kitchen paper or on very fine sandpaper but neither worked in this case. I have wasted a number of pens in this way over the years, drawing over acrylic paint mostly, and it’s a real pain.
Valentine’s Day gift from my hubby
He always manages to find something lovely when he buys a present for me! No exception this time. He found this beautiful china plate in a local shop.
The design is richly outlined with gold, which simply doesn’t show up in the photo – so disappointing! The picture is very reminiscent of doodle art and I’m already inspired by it!
On the back it says that it was made in Greece. When I first saw it I wondered if it was Eastern European – perhaps Romanian or Hungarian. I said to my hubby that the Greeks must have a thriving ceramics industry because their favourite pastime seems to be smashing plates! I shall endeavour to do my utmost to ensure that this particular Greek plate remains intact, however.
The plate has a small hole drilled in the raised base on the back, ready for hanging. Now all I have to do is decide where to put it.
