3-D HOLES – ANOTHER DRAWING IN MY RHODIA DRAWING BOOK

I really wasn’t sure what to call this drawing! It was inspired by a picture I saw on Pinterest, which I think was actually a photo of a wood carving rather than a drawing. It didn’t come out quite as I wanted, and then it took on a life of its own, and this is the result.

I’ve done a few pictures like this with negative watercolour painting but this is the first time I’ve done a drawing in this style. I have tried to convey both convex and concave elements with the addition of shadows.

The drawing was done with Faber Castell permanent fineliner pens, and the shading with matte grahite pencils, also Faber Castell.

I think I need to find a better title for this drawing!
