TIMES TABLE ART – TWO TIMES TABLE – TWO BY TWO
There was really no choice over the subject of this drawing – “Two by Two” had to refer to Noah’s Ark!
My second Times Table drawing
It might seem a bit illogical to start with 3 and then go to 2, but the Three Times Table had a very symmetrical design with the two-lobed nephroid shape, and it seemed appropriate to start with that. The Two Times Table plotted in this way generates a cardioid, single-lobed shape. I followed the direction of the lines as much as I could, and I think this has given the drawing a lot of energy and movement. I am pleased with the result.
I did have some difficulty photograhing this and rejected my first attempts which I took in artificial light. I retook them in daylight, but they still needed some colour editing. I think I’ve got it as close as I can now.
Some detail shots
I drew this with Staedtler permanent fineliner pens and coloured it with Amazon Basics coloured pencils. I added little touches of silver fine tipped Posca marker but this hardly shows up, even in real life. In the photo it just looks grey. The silver pen is not nearly as good as the gold one, unfortunately. As with the previous Times Table drawing and charts, I used Neenah Bristol vellum drawing paper. This is really nice to work on, and it is thin enough to go through the printer, which is a great advantage.
