HEBREW CALLIGRAPHY PICTURES FRAMED
Today the parcel arrived from the online framing shop, with the mounts and frames for my two Hebrew calligraphy pictures which I did during the latest Domestika course.
My name in Calligraphy
This was the first exercise we had to do on the course. The calligraphy didn’t have to be in Hebrew, but I decided to make an art piece from mine. Full details here.
I chose a gold frame with a double mount, the inner mount being gold and the outer one dark red.
I am extremely pleased with how this turned out.
The final project
My final project was to write out Isaiah 46:9-10 in Hebrew, with the English translation in blackletter calligraphy below. Full details here, and subsequent posts.
I chose a simple black mount with no aperture, in an antique-style gold frame. I glued the piece onto the mount using archival PVA adhesive which I bought for bookbinding purposes. Hopefully this means that there will be no bleed-through over time.
Again, I am extremely pleased with the result. I chose a large enough mount and frame to give the piece room to breathe, and added my signature in gold at the bottom. The inking and irregular border give the piece the look of old parchment, and I couldn’t be more delighted with how this has turned out.
The completion of the Hebrew Calligraphy course
With the framing of these two pieces, I have now come to the end of the course, and have received my certificate!
Later:
The two framed pictures are now hung, the first in the bedroom and the second in the sitting room.
