TYPEWRITER ALBUM PART 7 – A FLORAL PAGE
As I mentioned before, I am not following a particular schedule with this project, but just flipping through the prepared signatures and deciding to work on one, whatever order they are in.
This page is also in the second signature. It is the third one up from the bottom in the following photo – a piece of scrapbooking paper with a distressed wood effect.

The folio is formed by folding a piece cut from the 12 x 12-in sheet, slightly smaller than A4. Rather than folding it down the centre, I folded it into 3, with the larger flap being on the left-hand side when looking at the inside.
In this session I concentrated on the outside of the left-hand flap. In order for it to extend a little further and cover the page underneath, I chose one of Luise Heinzl’s strip pieces from the Typewriter Ephemera kit, which can be used as a long page tab or a belly band, or cut into sections as you want. I folded it in half vertically and stuck it around the edge of the page so that it stuck out a bit further. The colours of the mini-typewriter images tone well with the weathered wood background. Opening the flap, the other half of the page tab is revealed, with more muted colours which tone with that background. In the following photo, you can see the flap on the right-hand side folded over, showing the weathered wood side of the paper. The revealed fold down the centre is where the binding will be.

Folding the flap closed again, here is the finished page. I didn’t photograph every stage.

I deliberately didn’t stick the page tab down completely on the shaped edge because I intended to be able to slip things underneath.
The focal point is one of the Brusho and coffee flowers I made recently. I fussy-cut it out and added a little Evergreen Bough Distress Ink around the edges, to tone with the fragments of Luise’s mixed media masterboards that I stuck underneath. I stuck all these pieces down on top of some threads from sewing machine trimmings and some tea-dyed gauze (actually grout cleaning cloth from the DIY store – yards of it and dirt cheap!!). I tucked the lower petal of the flower underneath the page tab and stuck the upper one on top.
Very pleased with the outcome of this one.
