Day 2

Amazing how quickly things get going. At the beginning of the day, there were signs of one or two roots emerging from the seeds, but by the end of the day there was no doubt.

I had a peek at the peas while I was at it, and they had started as well.

They went back in the pantry again, the peas with their weighted tray on top of them again. I poured fresh water through the seeds in both the morning and the evening.

Day 3

Since it was two days since I began, in the morning of Day 3 I introduced a new batch of seeds into the sprouter, this time red cabbage.

Again, I marked the tray with the variety and the date. In the tray underneath you can see that the fenugreek had sprouted some very healthy looking roots.

The peas were coming along nicely as well.

In the evening of Day 3 I reversed the trays again, and watered them. The fenugreek is well away now, and it will soon start to produce some top growth.

The peas were doing well by the end of Day 3 as well. I gave them a light misting of water. They still need to have the other tray on top, weighted down. Together with the sprouter, they are still resting in the pantry.

In the post today (Day 3) the remaining seeds arrived – alfalfa and pink kale. I shall introduce one of these to the sprouter on Day 5 (Monday). The fenugreek may be ready by then, and the peas should be ready for their next stage.
