Rice Paper
Most of the papers I ordered have now arrived, and I am just waiting for a few stragglers. I ordered mostly rice paper, with some napkins thrown in for good measure – I found a shop online where you can buy single napkins for creative purposes, rather than having to buy a whole pack – I had no idea you could do this.
I deliberately chose papers with small designs on them so that they would be suitable for my teabag art. Some of the pictures are obviouly larger but these will do well on backgrounds.
Here is the collection. The first thing to arrive was the pack of 80 sheets of monochrome tissue paper from Ebay, in this brilliant envelope which is definitely a keeper! I’ve exposed a couple of words from my address so that you can see the beautiful brush calligraphy she used to address the envelope, and she has stuck on loads of kitty stickers! How did she know I was a cat lover?! Just so much fun to receive an envelope like this.
A further surprise was revealed when I opened it. She’d popped in a tiny envelope full of stickers!
These are the papers she sent. Eight different designs, ten sheets of each.
Other parcels contained the following. Firstly, a pack of three quite large sheets of decoupage paper with images of vintage postcards.
An A3 sheet of rice paper with a vintage sea theme.
An A4 sheet of rice paper with masses of little flowers. These are small enough to go on a teabag.
Another A3 sheet. This rice paper has a tea theme (ideal for my teabag art) and also ha some very pretty borders.
Vintage books.
Postage theme.
Plenty to play with here, with lots of birds and other bits and pieces.
Vintage butterflies and moths. I can use the whole little motif, or cut out the butterfly.
Plenty more butterflies to play with.
Nautical theme.
Clocks and gears.
Vintage city maps.
Blue birds.
Purple and orange flowers.
Vintage-style labels.
Now for the napkins. A couple of single ones swith a nautical theme.
Another single napkin, this time covered with hundreds of bees – very useful to go with honeycomb stamps, stencils etc.
I decided to buy the whole pack of these teatime-themed napkins because there is so much material to go with teabag art.
All these rice papers are now safely filed in transparent page sleeves. As I empty my inkpad storage boxes and move the inkpads onto the new storage unit in due course, I am going to use the boxes to store my journal materials.
Finally, the three sheets of decoupage paper came in this rather attractive little envelope with a window in the front. I thought this would make a nice pocket in a junk journal so it’s going in my stash.
Inkpad Storage
This project is going very well indeed. Since this blog post has already run pretty long, I’ll post further about this tomorrow or the next day. I’ve got a turntable on order which should arrive tomorrow.
Teabag Stain Doodles
I’ll close with a picture of the latest teabag stain doodles, on the second sheet of grey stains from the fruit “tea.” Only a few more to complete on this page now. I really like the black doodling on the grey stains. A very different effect from regular tea.
I am definitely going to have to incorporate the area of staining to the right of the teabag stains because it is just too delicious to waste! I love the hint of cream and the wicking effect to the left of the doily stain. Quite yummy.
