NEW HOME CARD
This afternoon I made a New Home card, using one of my recently created teabag collage elements. I had cut out quite a few little houses from New Home cards we had received, and I chose one of these teabags for the focal image of my card.
Here are the elements of the card ready to be assembled.
I took a 5 x 5-inch card base from my card-making stash and inked the edges. The Distress Inks I used for this project were Walnut Stain, Black Soot and Picked Raspberry. The large mat layer is a piece cut from large coffee-dyed paper decorated with a plastic table runner, and the small piece is a piece of fairly thick kraft card which I inked with both Walnut Stain and Black Soot to provide a good contrast layer.

The back of the card. When I’d finished making the front, I realised I’d made quite a mess on the back because I forgot to clean my mat! So I decided to ink the back, using the Walnut Stain and Picked Raspberry inks, and some water spattering.
The card insert. I designed this in my desktop publishing software, printed it out and inked the edges with Walnut Stain before sticking it into the card.
Working on the envelope. I always keep a number of envelope blanks in my stash, for the various sizes of card that I make, using the envelope punch board. I don’t make them up until I need them, in case I want to add any embellishments.
In this case, I inked the envelope blank using the same colours as on the card. When I did the water spatters, however, they didn’t all blot off leaving white marks, but some brown ones too! Not too bad looking, though. I inked the edges as before.
I made the envelope liner from another piece of the coffee-dyed paper and added further inking.

I wonder if the recipient will realise that the topper is made from a teabag? They are moving from a large house to a smaller one, so I think the choice of this particular teabag embellishment is an appropriate one!
Beautiful! I love the type-face you use too, which is also used in my beautiful gift. It’s so elegant, classic, clear yet has a contemporary feel about it. Perfect.
