What’s On Your Workdesk this Wednesday? My studio is, as always these days, an abandoned mess… I have been in my office this week though – a small annexe to the studio – doing the monthly accounts. A real chore and always hard to get my head around, and I tend to procrastinate… My hubby was out that evening and I decided I really should crack on with it.

Shoshi’s Doing Time

What do you do when you’re serving time at her Majesty’s pleasure? Sew mailbags. Except in this case – Shoshi’s sewing teabags!

Detail of teabags sewn together

Can’t tell you why just yet. I have to order something else to help me complete Phase 3 of my eco project, and while I’m waiting, I thought I’d get on with a bit of teabag sewing. If what I have in mind doesn’t work, I have other plans for the sheets of teabags! My hubby said, “Why don’t you just whizz through them on your sewing machine?” However, I am enjoying hand-stitching them while relaxing with my legs up on the recliner, watching TV, and I rather like the hand-done look of the criss-cross stitching.

I’ve also got my slippers on my mind as well. I haven’t added a stitch to them for weeks. Now the weather is getting colder, I’m going to want to wear them soon, so they are getting higher on my priorities list. Here’s an old picture just to remind you…

Meal Prep Tuesday

Yesterday I did my usual meal prep, which you can see here.

Recipe of the Week

This week I have chosen another sauce, Creamy White Sauce. The recipe was part of a vegan risotto recipe I found online – keep scrolling down and you’ll find it. It takes a bit longer to make than Chef AJ’s Yummy Sauce but it’s really delicious and creamy, and would lend itself to lots of variations as well.

Unboxing of a New Gadget

I  took delivery of a new kitchen gadget yesterday, a new food processor, which I also wrote about in yesterday’s meal prep post.

Unboxing new food processor - box front

A food processor is something I have felt the need of for some time. I used to have one years ago and I’m not sure what happened to it – probably the motor burnt out or something, and I never replaced it. However hi-tech and sophisticated some of my other gadgets may be, there are some jobs that only a food processor can do, and this purchase was definitely overdue, judging by how many moments of frustration I have had. You can see how compact this machine is. All the accessories are stored in a special rack contained within the bowl. It fits in my cupboard really well, and it needs to, because I have very little room left on the counter for any more gadgets!

I haven’t tried it out yet. So far, I’ve just got it out of the box and washed it, ready for use.

The Waiting Game

Last Thursday I had my PIP face-to-face assessment, which I wrote about here. Now I’ve got to play the waiting game. I have been told it will take 6-8 weeks for me to receive the DWP’s decision on whether or not I receive my disability benefit, and if I do, how much I will get. The whole experience was very stressful and quite an ordeal, even though it turned out not to be quite as bad as I’d expected, and during this limbo time I am trying not to allow myself to worry too much about it.

I am sorry I got in a muddle with my blog post last week – with everything else on my mind, I forgot that I hadn’t actually published it, and when I signed up for WOYWW, there was no post for anyone to visit! I got it up eventually – better late than never!

My thanks to everyone who sent encouraging and supportive comments, and most especially for those of you who have been praying for me. It means a great deal to me. Please continue to do so – I’m not out of the woods yet!

Kitties

I haven’t posted any photos of Lily and Ruby recently, and I thought you might be amused by this one that I took yesterday. They had just come in from a romp in the garden and were waiting for my hubby to stir his stumps and feed them. However, he was relaxing over a nice cup of tea and we were watching Star Trek together. The kitties enjoy Star Trek.

Look at their funny tails!

Happy WOYWW everyone, and a productive and creative week ahead.

I love the picture of the cats sat on hubbies knew watching Star Trek. How funny. They really are watching aren’t they?
Fingers crossed for the decision being a positive one – what a wait you have had and still are having.
Love your new gadget and was thrilled to see the slipper again – I am sure it could be worn as is but am equally sure you want to do more and fulfill your plans.
Now the teabags – got me intrigued. I now when I was doing the dec of them someone else I know was saving them to make into a dress. Yes, she was sewing them together to make a dress. Not sure if she ever got it finished as i don’t see her now with my not going out and about.
Have a good week, Hugs, Neet 1 xx

Love your photo of hubby and the kitties – we love Star Trek in our household too! I’m glad that the PIP assessment wasnt as bad as it could have been, but for an hour with ME – that is far too long. My hubby has ME, and has had it for 18 years and been unable to work in that time and was on the old incapacity benefit. He isnt wheel-chair bound but cannot walk far so it is an on-going challenge for us all but we never applied for DLA and so havent applied for PIP. I will continue to pray for you.

Oh I love the stitching on those tea bags. AND love those 2 cats enjoying lap time! Gorgeous adds to that slipper. Yes it is FALL Hot one day cold the next . I had to get out the fall clothes and find a place for them. No extra space with only 2 closets in this house. Have fun with the food processor. I don’t have one. Settled for an Air Fryer and I love it. So maybe the processor will be next Have a great week.

Hi Shoshi, I am glad the PIP interview wasn’t quite as bad as you feared it might be. You are doing the right thing trying to keep it out of your mind for the moment. I am intrigued to see what will become of the teabags. Meow to Lily and Ruby ‘Live Long and Prosper’. Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #2

Hand sewing used teabags is a labor of love for our environment, and like you said, therapeutic. We used to have a small and a large food processor, but my wife gave one to each of our daughters when they moved out. Now we need to buy a new one for ourselves – LOL! Waiting around for news is always dreadful, so I hope you at least get good news about the DWP’s decision. The photograph of your hubby and the kitties is priceless. Happy belated WOYWW!

    Hi
Better late than never as they say!!
Hope you received my email safely and can meet up with Margaret and me…..
Love the photo of hubby and the kitties. Know about the waiting game, it’s so silly really…. but I guess they have so many applications to deal with all year round. My niece has not heard anything yet.
Keep stitching and hope to see you on Thursday outside the Shiraz down by the harbour anytime after 12.00hrs.
    xx
