DARTINGTON FEATHER
During our recent sketching trip to Dartington, I didn’t manage to pick up any natural treasures, but my hubby found this very pretty feather for me. We think it is probably a pheasant’s feather.

I had to tape it down to make it lie flat in order to photograph it.
Today I finally got around to doing a drawing of it. It had got a bit squashed in transit. Again I taped it down (in several places) and managed to flatten it out a bit, and get some of the separated bits to stick together again before I drew it from life. I used Faber Castell Polychromos (coloured pencils) in my normal sketchbook.

I added a faux torn paper background for it, coloured very lightly, with some tapes at the corner for a bit of realism, to make it look more like a field sketch.
