GIFT WRAP TAGS

I wrapped a couple of gifts today, using some gift wrap paper from W.H. Smith’s which has gold accents – I originally bought the roll of paper simply for art purposes but since these were gifts for special people I thought I’d use some of it on them!

I spent far more time working on the tags but it was fun. I found a couple of clothing tags in my stash and trimmed them to shape. I covered them front and back. For the fronts I used offcuts of the wrapping paper and for the back, some tea-dyed scrap printer paper with gesso.

To make the tags stand out a bit more from the wrapping jpaper, I inked them, and added a paper flower from my stash that I had made previously. I embossed the flowers and added a bit of gilding wax around the edges of the petals, and made centres with a little gold Stickles (glitter glue). I attached them with some crimped red ribbon from my stash, originally from Lindt gold Easter bunnies!

I stuck the flowers down over a scrap of scrim fabric. I bought this from B&Q (DIY store) – it is grout removing cloth! There is yards of it, all folded up and compressed, but I can cut off small portions and fray it out. It’s a really useful and cheap material.

I hope you can see the gold in these photos. Gold is always difficult to photograph.

They’re really beautiful Shoshi – you’ve transformed them yet they fit in so beautifully with the paper at the same time. The recipients will be so blessed to get these!
